This module will provide the foundation for everything that you will learn through the course. it will cover an analysis of health care systems globally and also an understanding of the Indian perspective. it will help you to assess the implementation of health care services through various organizations, both public and private and the impact of that on the health of the population.
Hospital as an organization
This module will compare theory and practice of management systems in hospitals. it will help you understand the role of various departments, clinical and administrative, their requirements and management functions. this module will provide an exhaustive view of hospitals in the indian health care scenario. various strategies and business models will be considered and studied. the economics of hospitals within the health care scenario will also be critically analysed.
Integrated Management practices for Hospitals
The management practices that are best suited to the hospital set up will be discussed and assess in this module. various approaches of management will considered and applied to help you understand their impact and outcome. issues like quality of care and patient care systems will be analysed in depth and in context of risk management and patient safety. capacity building for health care staff and training will also be a crucial skill that will be imparted in this module

Hospital Attachment
The hospital attachment will help you to put the theory of management practices into perspective. there will be a briefing which will schedule and plan the attachment in a way that will help you to understand the manager's role and observe the day to day challenges faced on the floor. the assessment which will be a project and evaluation based activity will help you to focus on special issues of your interest, during the hospital attachment period. The debriefing will help in discussing and resolving issues that you will observe as operational challenges. this module will be an orientation to the hospital managers role.
