Today, nurses have a great opportunity to climb the ladder in healthcare sector by pursuing courses like PGDHM,MHA,MBA in (healthcare)sector, and become a nurse administrator. But today I being a nurse, feels that MHA has widened my sphere of knowledge about hospital industry and has opened my doors to pursue a challenging career in the health industry.

The first step of which began with my summer internship program at Asian Heart Hospital,Bandra Kurla Complex(Mumbai). During the internship,I understood the practicality of working in hospital and how well it coincided with the knowledge I acquired in my 1st year of MHA. The summer internship project allowed me to conduct market analysis of non-cardiac services for Asian Heart Hospital, though challenging I managed to accomplish it successfully.Alongside,I also got a chance to work on the lacunae existing in the hospital with regards to quality assurance and managed to complete " a casestudy on planned discharges of Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patients".

I am glad to have taken up this course to progress in my career and I am sure it will help me tomorrow to make a mark in the boomimg hospital industry.

I am a dentist but as i didn't want to practice dentistry,i decided to continue in the hospital set up by branching out into hospital administration.

This course is extremely useful as it provides us with the insights of a hospital, which i dont think, we would gain in any other course or field.

Many subjects like hospital & its various departments,Human resourse,Leadership etc are extremely useful and the hospital visits proved important.

This course not only exchances your knowledge but also exposes you to the depths of a health care organisation, ie the hospital visits to Bharati Hospital(Pune) and Kohinoor Hospital (Mumbai). This made it easy for us to relate the theory with the practical world.

Personal development is another positive aspect of this course. subject like ethics, leadership,Health Law encourages us to indentify and built skills and take a closer look at ourselves.

We had a month of summer vacations where we were given projects. One of the projects was on Quality Assurance. We had appeared for the theory paper in our 2nd semester. However doing this project actually helped us apply our theoretical knowledge to the practical project.

How this course(MHA)has helped me in my Summer Training Project.

Being a doctor,my motto to choose MHA was to develop some administrative skills along with my clinical background. Having an aim to make a contribution to the healthcare sector the right kind of course was MHA.

In my Summer Internship I was given a project of "Marketing For Non-Cardiac Service" at Asian Heart Institute. The learning experience of my 1st year MHA has immersly helped me to apply it practically & also gave me an option to explore various hospitals with a view of understanding the administrative setup's.It has built my confidence by adding a bit of experience to my domain background.

Summer internship was a stepping stone for my future job oppurtunities by which I also learnt the operational, issues involved and understood the hospital as an administrator.
